Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son.
And now let the weak say ‘I am strong,’
Let the poor say ‘I am rich,’
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks.

Like many of you in California (and elsewhere), I woke up to the news of the tragedy last night in Thousand Oaks, where twelve people lost their lives. Later today, I found out that the daughter of my friend from high school was there when the shooting happened. I asked her if I could share this …
“Thankful she and her friends are safe! Thankful for the young men that tackled them down and pushed them to safety. She got out with some scrapes and bruises. Thank you to all who have reached out. She is flying home today and we get to hold her and love on her unlike the other parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters who won’t be able to do that. Prayers for the victims families and the officer who lost his life going in to protect and serve. Jesus is here and near in this most evil of acts – we thank Him for our daughter’s life spared and take refuge in Him. Psalm 23:4″
The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
[Proverbs 13:12]
Last week, my girls & I went on a field trip with friends to The Painted Press and each of us got to design whatever we liked on one of their beautiful jewelry dishes. This was mine, a verse and image with special meaning to my husband and I. Words of promise and hope.
The next day, eleven people lost their lives at the Tree Of Life Synagogue in Pennsylvania. Seven of those killed were alive during the Holocaust. I have no words.
So I turn to the back of the Book and read these words …
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. [Revelation 22:1-5]
Words of promise and hope.
Happy Friday, friends!
I just added a new rainbow art print to the free printables page! You can find it (and a lot more goodies) HERE. Enjoy!
And remember (preaching to myself) … in the midst of all your “doing” this week: you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Also, don’t forget Who it is you’re doing it for, so that whatever you do, you can work at it with all your heart.
I truly love hearing from you, so please add your voice in the comments! I do my best to answer all emails (just not always super fast). I'm also a member of various affiliate programs, which means that if you make a purchase through a link here, I may receive a small commission (which in turn helps support my handmade business and our non-profit ministry) --so, thank you!
